    Shroud History

This page of the website was one of the first pages I built back in 1996, thanks primarily to our good friend, Shroud author and historian, Ian Wilson, who graciously allowed us to reprint a portion of his own, well-researched Shroud history on this site. However, in those early days of the internet, when most people were still using slow dial up modems, issues like page size were a critical factor in web page design. Large pages took forever to download and most of the time, when confronted with a large, slow loading page, visitors would simply move on to something else without ever viewing the page. Since Ian's history was so extensive and detailed, we opted to only include what was then referred to as the "Undisputed" history of the Shroud, starting in the mid-1300's, in order to keep the page size more modest. Aside from the additions that I included of more recent events, the basic history has remained unchanged since 1996.

With Moon Dirt In Demand, Geoscientist's Business Is Booming

Dallas TX (SPX) Jan 17, 2008 - After 43 years, Dr. James L. Carter has retired from teaching and research at the University of Texas at Dallas, but he is not giving up his other job: making fake moon dirt. The geoscientist has parlayed his arcane specialty as an expert on lunar soil into a full-time business, ETSimulants. The company makes and ships tons of lunar regolith stimulant, or fake moon dirt, to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and other researchers.

With Moon Dirt In Demand, Geoscientist's Business Is Booming NASA introduced moon dirt to Dr. Carter when they sent him soil samples brought back to Earth from astronauts on the first Apollo flight. He was able to identify the chemical materials and the mineralogy-, but it was several years…

The “432 Hz vs. 440 Hz” conspiracy theory | Hacker News

I have been following this for years, being both a sound engineer and a bit of a hippie who knows a lot of other hippies. The basic issue is that 432 is a numerologically interesting number compared to 440. So if it's more interesting it should be better for artistic purposes, goes the argument. However this falls flat as soon as you consider that the 432 is only interesting relative to the completely arbirtrary duration of a second. There is nothing special about the second from a human psychoacoustic point of view. We could have standardized on a longer or shorter time interval, but since we'd been using the Babylonian-originated divisions for centuries in the west the second is what we ended up with.

Home of the Angels by Henry Kroll (Ebook) - Read free for 30 days

This book started when I received a copy of NASA''s video of the long wire tether experiment. NASA astronauts filmed the experiment from the space shuttle Columbia with a hand-held video camera that contained a wide spectrum chip enabling the camera to pick up high ultraviolet images that ordinarily would be invisible to the human eye. The long wire tether satellite contained a reel with a 12-mile-lorig cable and instruments to measure voltage in the upper atmosphere. The satellite measured a voltage ranging from 12 to 14 million volts. While the astronauts were filming the experiment from a distance of fifty miles a sudden surge of over three million volts burnt the cable in half. After NASA retrieved the satellite switches were thrown and a CO2 tank valve had been opened. After reviewing the tape for some time I realized that the camera was picking up round three-mile-diameter ships from a higher energy-state or dimension. (I hate to use the word dimension because people roll their eyes.) The huge dimensional ships seemed to be curious about the experiment and were swarming around the tether satellite like large jellyfish. They would lower their energy state and suddenly become visible to the wide-spectrum camera and glide slowly around the cable. It became obvious to me that I was observing spaceships created by intelligent beings with the capability of living in space forever. They had obviously worked out their political differences long ago and exist in a sort of mind-control society. They need us for emotional entertainment and coexist with us here on earth. Mind control societies feed on other people''s emotion because it is forbidden to them. The book is about the history of encounters with angels and the mindset needed to develop the technology to live in space.

Doggerland. Lost World under the North Sea @ Sidestone Press

This popular-science book tells the story of one of the most important, but least known major archaeological sites in Europe: Doggerland. Few people know that the beaches along the North Sea lie on the edge of a vast lost world. A prehistoric landscape that documents almost a million years of human habitation and lay dry for most of that time. Doggerland is where early hominids left the first footprints in northern Europe, more than 900,000 years ago. Later, for hundreds of thousands of years, it was the scene of ice ages. A world of woolly mammoths and rhinoceroses, horses and…

Agharta and Pangaea are two double-disc live recordings from 1975—both recorded on the same day, February 1 in the same venue—and serve multiple roles in Miles’ catalog. Together they represent a bookend to arguably the most prolific and musically restless period of Miles’ career. By the time these albums were released—Agharta in 1975 and Pangaea the following year, Miles had disappeared into semi-retirement due to health complications compounded by an exhausting touring schedule.

Bring Me the Rhinoceros: And Other Zen Koans That Will Save Your Life - 9781590306185

Bring Me the Rhinoceros is an unusual guide to happiness and a can opener for your thinking. For fifteen hundred years, Zen koans have been passed down through generations of masters, usually in private encounters between teacher and student. This book deftly retells more than a dozen traditional koans, which are partly paradoxical questions dangerous to your beliefs and partly treasure boxes of ancient wisdom. Koans show that you don’t have to impress people or change into an improved, more polished version of yourself. Instead you can find happiness by unbuilding, unmaking, throwing overboard, and generally subverting unhappiness. John Tarrant brings the heart of the koan tradition out into the open, reminding us that the old wisdom remains as vital as ever, a deep resource available to anyone in any place or time.

Alive Until You're Dead: Notes on the Home Stretch - 9781611809633

Gold Nautilus Book Award WinnerPoignant and humorous insights on fully embracing our lives as we age from Susan Moon, beloved Buddhist teacher and author.Aging isn’t easy. But it can still be filled with joy—maybe even more joy than we expect. Described by the New York Journal of Books as “a Buddhist Anne Lamott,” Zen teacher and writer Susan Moon explores both the losses and the gifts that come with the final years. Joining levity with tenderness, Moon shares stories from her own life including knee replacements, cornea surgery, Zoom chats with grandchildren, and dementia. Moon illustrates the strength that can come from within, sometimes unexpectedly, even as our bodies fail. Our radiant aliveness can be discovered and rediscovered any time up to the last moment.Alive Until You’re Dead offers a Zen approach to aging. Moon’s stories explore being present with what is, not turning away from what’s difficult, wishing for and working for the wellbeing of others, and being willing not to know what’s next. Moon writes of her most personal vulnerabilities in the service of connecting with everyone. These field notes from an old human being invite us to feel more alive in the final stretch, whatever it holds.

    The Missing: Janice Marie Hannigan

This month’s missing persons case is emblematic of a much larger problem in the world of crime and investigation. Janice Marie Hannigan was only 16 when she vanished on Christmas Eve of 1971. However, records of her disappearance are inconsistent at best and there is little information available. It seems like her case wasn’t taken seriously. Why could that be? Could it be because she was a young indigenous woman? Let’s explore. Case Basics Name: Janice Marie HanniganMissing Since: December 24, 1971Age: 16Location: Wapato, WashingtonStatus: Endangered Missing Who Is Janice? As with many of the cases we cover here at the library, not a lot of information is known about who Janice was before she disappeared. We know that she was born on March 23, 1955. She is a member of the Yakama Nation. At the time of her disappearance, her parents were separated, and she was living with her father in Harrah, WA while the rest of her siblings lived with her mother. Janice is the oldest of seven children. She was a sophomore at White Swan High School, and enjoyed doing beadwork, cooking, and watching football in her spare time. According to missing persons reports, Janice stood at about five feet tall and weighed around 100 to 105 pounds at the time of her disappearance. She has a mole on her chin. Strangely, reports note that her ears may be pierced. She has brown eyes, and dark hair that she wore long at the time she was last seen. The Disappearance On December 21, 1974, 16-year-old Janice Marie Hannigan was admitted to a hospital in Yakima County, Washington. The exact hospital is not known, and no records have survived to date. It is known, however, that Janice had bruises on her head and chest. The cause of her injuries is also unknown, though they had to be relatively serious, as she was held at the hospital for treatment until December 24, 1974, when she was deemed healthy enough to be discharged. No sources list if she left the hospital alone or with someone escorting her. There appears to not even be a record of what she was wearing that day. Janice left the hospital and has not been seen since. The Investigation Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any information online about the investigation into Janice’s disappearance. She was obviously reported missing, and the Yakima Sheriff’s office does have her listed on NamUs, with comparisons – meaning she is actively being compared to unidentified decedents. Beyond that, the only thing I can find is that Janice’s younger sister has been advocating for movement on her case – as in the time since her disappearance, Janice’s parents have both sadly passed. Theories Cases like these are so difficult to try and think of what happened – there are just so many unknowns and so many variables. I think it would be irresponsible to just throw a ton of sensationalist ideas at the way for the sake of trying to satisfy some sort of what if, so let’s consider what we do know: Janice had just been released from the hospital after sustaining some sort of injuries to her head, she was living away from most of her family, and she was a young woman of color.Looking at those factors, a few theories surface for me. First, I think it may be possible that Janice was not ready to be released from the hospital, and that her condition was worse than originally thought. It’s not exactly unheard of for women of color to not get excellent medical care, after all. If she had a head injury, she could have been or become disoriented and lost her way, wandering off and succumbing to the elements. Looking at a map of the area – despite not knowing which hospital Janice went to – there is a lot of undeveloped land between Harrah, Wapato, and Yakima. Second, I think the fact that Janice had those bruises could possibly be the key here. Getting bruises around the head and chest is something that typically happens when you get assaulted or into a fight. Otherwise, there would be bruises on the arms or the torso as well. I think it is absolutely possible that Janice had been assaulted by someone prior to being admitted to the hospital, and that she had an altercation with that person after being released. This, however, is based on nothing more than the placement of the bruises, as no coverage of this case mentions the cause of her injuries. Lastly, I think there is always the possibility that Janice tried to hitchhike or was offered a ride home by someone. I can’t speculate on whether she knew this individual or not, but hitchhiking was far more common in 1971, and looking at maps of Washington, hospitals were far afield of where Janice was living with her father. Hitching a ride may have just made sense to her. Again, speculation. Investigating Agencies If you or anyone you know has any information regarding the disappearance of Janice Marie Hannigan, contact the proper authorities. The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office currently has jurisdiction over her case. They can be reached at 509-574-2500 in reference to case number 17C00300. Janice’s NamUs case number is MP30849.

    The True Meaning of Moomas

I’ve been writing about Jackal’s Eve, the fictional Kemetic holiday in which Wepwawet and Yinepu deliver gifts on the Night Before Moomas. Moomas is, of course, based on “The Establishment of the Celestial Cow,” which was a relatively unimportant holiday in ancient Egypt. The Rev. Siuda has written a blog entry about Moomas, which she introduced twenty years ago as a lighthearted Kemetic holiday during the Christmas season (much the same as Hanukkah has gained in importance due to its proximity to December 25th.) Oddly, from a Christian theological perspective, Christmas is relatively unimportant compared to Easter. It took a long time for it to be celebrated at any particular time at all, and is only mentioned in two of the four canonical gospels. We’re all pulling out obscure holidays to substitute for Christmas, which is mostly important for commercial and sentimental reasons.

For over 1800 years, the Jews were scattered throughout all nations without a homeland. Then in 1948, the impossible happened. The State of Israel was founded, and the Jews once again possessed the promised land. Many Christians have proclaimed this to be a miracle and a blessing from God, but was this really the blessing of the Lord, or were darker forces at work? This film has the answer. From the makers of After the Tribulation and New World Order Bible Versions, this groundbreaking documentary traces the history of the Jewish people from the destruction of the temple in A.D. 70 to the founding of the modern-day nation of Israel in 1948. Biblical evidence is examined as well as history, cutting-edge DNA science, mathematics, and testimony from pastors and rabbis to settle once and for all one of the most controversial questions of all time: Who are God's chosen people?
