Shasta Lake is the largest man-made reservoir in all of California. 2. The lake’s deepest point comes in at 517 feet. 3. When Shasta Lake is full, the elevation of the water surface is 1067 feet above sea level. 4. You can see the “three Shastas”—Shasta Dam, Shasta Lake, and Mount Shasta—from the Shasta Dam Vista Point. 5. While visiting you can check out Shasta Caverns, which began forming over 250 million years ago. 6. Shasta Lake stretches out to 35 miles long. 7. When Shasta Lake is full, its 365 mile shoreline exceeds that of San Francisco Bay. 8. Some parts of shoreline are "restricted" due to Bald Eagle or Osprey nesting sites. 9. Constructed between 1935 and 1945, Shasta is the second tallest and largest concrete dam in the nation. 10.
