It was a long time ago and before I had the knowledge I do now. I was a valet in the Jack London camp which had much of his memorabilia in it. How ironic that a man like London's cabin was co-opted by these guys. My camp was younger more liberal types, nobody famous. They were much ruder and inconsiderate to the help than the older, mostly Republican and mostly self made types in my friends camps. My husband, and grandson, and I, went along. It took some time but we found it, down a long treed road, not paved. We came to a creek and a dead end, actually it was a large gate with a guard house next to it. We all went down into the creek and scouted it out. We saw a huge parking lot filling up with expensive cars. Everything else must have been farther back on the property. We were going to be more adventurous and walk onto the parking lot, when two armed men showed up and demanded to know what we were doing there. I told them that we were exploring the creek bed. The men called for backup and four more armed men came! We were asked for our ID and told that we were on private property. "We are!", I exclaimed. I saw no sign and the fencing was down. They saw it also and called "the boss" and told him that Their security was breached and needed to be taken care of and now! We were then escorted back to the road and told not to return again.
