UFOs, et al: REINHOLD SCHMIDT CONTACT UFOs, et al UFOs, BIGFOOT, GHOSTS, AND THE UNEXPLAINED Thursday, April 8, 2010 REINHOLD SCHMIDT CONTACT The Kearney Incident On a misty November 5, 1957, I finished my workabout 2:30 p.m. It had been a busy day ofinspecting fields of milo and corn a few milesfrom Kearney, Nebraska, which is about thirtymiles from Kenesaw, my birthplace.(incidentally, Kearney is the exact center ofthe United States, being just 1,733 miles fromboth San Francisco and Boston.)I was driving near an old sand bed on the Platte River, andclose by was an abandoned farm house. It seemedlike a good place to turn my car around but, asI started to do so, there was a brilliant flashof light a short distance ahead. I drove on toinvestigate what I thought might be someoneblasting trees, although I had heard no noise.Within a hundred feet of the river bank my carengine suddenly stopped. I turned the ignitionoff and on several times, thinking that perhapsthe battery had gone dead or that maybe therough road had jiggled some wiring loose.As I started to get out of the car to check theengine, I noticed something ahead that appearedto be a large, half-inflated balloon. When Iwalked toward it, skirting a clump of willowtrees and tall grass, it was obvious that itwas not a balloon, but a great, silvery craftwhich seemed to be made of some kind of metal,such as polished steel or aluminum. It wasresting on what I later found out to be fourhydraulic rams serving as landing gear, but itlooked like some sort of balloon more thananything else.As I came within about thirty feet of it athin stream of light, about as big around as apencil, shot out from it and hit me across thechest. It seemed as if I were suddenlyparalyzed; I could not move. Maybe I was onlyscared stiff but, before I could analyze myfeelings, a door in the ship slid open and twomen came out of it toward me. They asked if Iwere armed and, although I said no, theyfrisked me anyway, but they took nothing fromme. After regaining some of my composure anddiscovering that I could move again, I askedthem what they were doing here, what kind ofcraft they had there, and where they were from.One of the men did the talking. He wasevidently the leader and I shall refer to himhereafter as Mr. X. He spoke English with aGerman accent and said that they couldn'tanswer those particular questions at that time.However, when I asked to come closer in orderto see the ship, Mr. X invited me aboard since,he said, they couldn't leave for a few minutesanyway. He said that I could look around insidebut not to touch anything. Inside The Ship Besides the leader, there were three men andtwo women in the ship. The women were sittingbehind a big desk on which there was a largeframe which enclosed what looked like a viewingscreen.At the same end of the ship were fourcolumns of colored liquid red, green, blue andorange. These tubes were approximately 4 andone half feet high and 6 inches in diameter.The ladies seemed to be watching the liquidvery closely as it moved slowly up and own,like the pistons in an automobile.The three men were working on an instrument panel thatfilled one side of the room I saw one of themclip off some short wires. The panel wasfilled with clocks, dials, buttons andswitches. In the center was a large screenwhich looked like our television screens, butit was not working while I was there. Thewalls of the ship were about a foot thick andlooked glassy. Oddly enough, I could seethrough them ...the sky, the surroundingscenery, even the weeds and brush beneath uswere visible! But, I remembered,looking at theship from the outside it seemed to be made ofsolid piece of metal. There were no portholesor windows. The only opening was the doorway.All of these people had dark hair and whatlooked like sun-tanned skin.The men were aboutfive-feet-eight inches tall and weighed about 170 pounds.I guessed the ladies' weight at about 120pounds, and they were about the same height asthe men. They wore light-colored blouses, darkshirts and shoes with medium heels. Both themen and womens clothing were similar to whatwe find here on our streets. Any one of themcould have walked unnoticed among our people.The instrument panel had no name oridentification which might have disclosed theplace of manufacture, but I did notice someArabic numerals and some Roman numerals on it.However, there were no other figures or letterson any kind on either the inside or the outsideof the ship. Another thing that fascinated me was the waythe crewmen glided, instead of walking, acrossthe floor when they stepped back from theinstrument panels! It seemed as though theywere on a moving sidewalk, although I saw nomoving parts .... and when I tried it, itdidn't work! I wondered if they had somethingspecial on their shoes. When these people spoke among themselves theyused high German, which I happen to understand,as I graduated from a school in which bothGerman and English were taught. I could speakread and write German at the time, and I stillspeak and understand it fairly well. But thesepeople all spoke to me in English with a Germanaccent. Mr. X asked me if I knew anything about theUnited States' satellite program. When Ireplied that I did not, he said, "They'replanning to send up some satellites, but thefirst two will never leave the ground. Thethird will go up, but it won't send backdata."This prophecy has since proved true. Theresults of those flight were printed innewspapers all over the country.After I had been inside the ship for about halfan hour, one of the men who had been working onthe panel said to another, " "Wir sind fertig,"which means "We are finished." Mr. X said tome, "You will have to leave now." I wasrelieved to hear that because, frankly, I hadbeen a little bit concerned about ever gettingoff that ship again!To be continued Posted by P.
