While many people do believe in the beasties, skeptics are quick to point out the lack of evidence, attributing the legends to nothing more than a scary fairy tale. However, two recent incidents may have changed everything (or at least moved the needle in the right direction). As we’ve pointed out in the past, this legendary “goat sucker” was officially entered into the public record in 1995 after a farmer in Puerto Rico discovered some of his livestock had been mutilated. Although this is when the name “El Chupacabra” was first coined, it’s not necessarily the first appearance of the destructive animal. In fact, many unsolved animal mutilations prior to 1995 are now attributed to the Chupacabra. Are Chupacabras real? While many people do believe in the beasties, skeptics are quick to point out the lack of evidence, attributing the legends to nothing more than a scary fairy tale. This lack of solid evidence has proven difficult for cryptid enthusiasts to put forth a compelling case. Fortunately, newly discovered physical evidence may once and for all provide the proof to substantiate what those farmers and witnesses have known for decades. On top of that, a major celebrity recently went on record describing an encounter with one of these beasts. You’ll need to keep reading to find out whom but just to be certain – it’s not Randy Quaid! Two Chilean men have found what many are calling the remains of multiple Chupacabras. The bones and skulls are clearly similar in shape and size to the physical characteristics described by previous Chupacabra witnesses. The remains were also found in an area primarily used by goat farmers. When you put these two factors together, it becomes easy to speculate hard evidence has finally been found. Understandably, local farmers are now very concerned about the possibility that a pack of goat suckers is on the prowl. With any luck, a live Chupacabra will soon be captured thanks to the hyper vigilance the discovery of these bones has caused. In any event, even if these remains don’t belong to at least two Chupacabras, they’re still inconsistent with other animals from the nearby area indicating perhaps a new cryptid has been discovered either way. What about that celebrity? Well, the famous and well-known actor claiming to have recently had an encounter with a Chupacabra is none other than…Johnny Depp. One of the biggest actors in the world, it’s difficult not to believe him when he claims he recently had an encounter with a cryptid which, according to Depp, wasn’t a big fan of his movies by his account. Although it’s possible he was just telling a joke, Depp did miss a press conference in Tokyo on January 27, 2014, and blamed this apparent lack of professionalism on a Chupacabra attack. Depp Blames Chupacabra for Missing Presser by associatedpress The word eccentric could easily be used to describe Depp, but he doesn’t have a proven history of actually lying to the media or telling tall tales. According to Depp’s account of the attack, the cryptid snuck into his suitcase and ended up inside his 23rd floor hotel room. While getting ready to attend the press conference, the Chupacabra obviously didn’t take to its new surroundings and went into attack mode, forcing Depp to defend himself. Depp characterized is assailant as both “very persistent” and “very mean.” So where is the Chupacabra now? Depp told reporters the long struggle ended with him throwing the cryptid off of the hotel room’s balcony.
