Originally called “schneller geist” or quick spirit, mispronunciation gave way to snallygaster. The mythical beast was reported on in newspapers in 1909 and 1932 and rumor has it that Teddy Roosevelt himself planned to visit Maryland to hunt the snallygaster down! The Legend Finally Has a Home… The snallygaster is imbedded into the folklore of America itself. For instance, have you ever seen a hex star on a barn? Legend has it that these were placed to ward off the snallygaster. Come visit the home of all things snally!
