Developer: Armor Games Price: $2.99 Version Reviewed: 1.1.0 Device Reviewed On: iPhone 5 Graphics / Sound Rating: Game Controls Rating: Gameplay Rating: Replay Value Rating: Overall Rating: Previously a browser-based game, Cursed Treasure 2 is a reasonably enjoyable Tower Defense title. There’s a catch though - it’s not overly original, mostly incorporating elements we’ve seen elsewhere. For a change, you play the bad guys attempting to stop the good guys from retrieving the treasure from your castle. Each level offers a series of positions for you to place your towers and attempt to wipe out the ensuing hordes. Different colored terrain offers up different types of tower and you can’t mix and match. Besides restricting you to certain places amongst the landscape, Cursed Treasure 2 also restricts the types of tower you can use. There are only three, although they can all expand into more powerful forms over time. Two different currencies control what you can do, with gold being used to place new towers and mana being used to clear trees, cast magic spells, or boost your permanent structures. These structures often help in the long run, with the gold mine boosting your gold production and the castle reducing how many enemies come at you at any one time. There’s an upgrade system too, with experience gained after every level. This means you can tailor your towers and defensive capabilities towards whatever you feel like, with a reasonably varied skill tree making you feel like you’re getting somewhere. Given that Cursed Treasure 2 gets quite tricky after a time with careful placement essential to success, such an upgrade system is immensely useful in the long run. There might "only" be 21 levels but there’s enough here to keep you busy. Still, those are all things we’ve seen in other Tower Defense games.
