Uncontrolled arc damage creates significant expense; and in cases is destructive and deadly. We have created disruptive products, technology, and patents for Electronic Power Contact Arc Suppression and Electronic Arc-Flash & Arc-Fault Suppression Arc Suppression Technologies has created products and patents that solve electrical problems that have existed since electricity was commercialized by Edison, Tesla, and Westinghouse in the 1870’s. Problems that cost $tens-of-billions annually from electrical contact failures, arc-faults, and arc-flash. Today, our products are solving these problems, offering game-changing competitive advantages across a wide variety of markets. Watch the entire video of a NOsparc arc suppressor ending the destructive power of contact arcing. Electronic Contact Arc Suppression Electricity is controlled using electromechanical switches, contactors, and relays. Uncontrolled arcing between contact electrodes makes these the least reliable components in this process. In the past, contact arcing has been addressed through using costly over-sized switches, frequent preventative maintenance and replacement in order to preempt possible system and equipment failures. Now, our NOsparc® arc suppressor products turn these least reliable components into the most predictable components, increasing their life from the predicted electrical life to the predicted mechanical life (typically a 1000X or greater improvement).See our NOsparc® products Electronic Arc-Flash Suppression Arc-flash is the world’s most destructive electrical accident, generating temperatures far higher than the surface of the sun in just a few millionths of a second. There are more than 30,000 annual arc-flash incidents resulting in thousands of hospitalizations and hundreds of deaths. Arc-flash is currently addressed through mitigation measures, training, and protective gear. Our TRIPflash™ arc-flash suppressor concept products are the world’s first semiconductor-based arc-flash suppressors … meaning we have the only technology able to stop an arc-flash before it can cause any damage, yielding the equivalent of a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.Learn more about TRIPflash™ arc-flash suppression Get Smart About The Arc Amongst engineers and product designers, electrical arcing has not been fully understood, and has historically lacked even consistent terminology to describe the phenomena. Overall, arcing has been accepted as unavoidable, with most efforts focused on mitigation and preemptive actions to limit or slow arc damage. Our technology’s inventor, Reinhold Henke, ultimately had to rethink how arcing really works … and even create new terminology and definitions … to make electronic arc suppression possible. More about arcing and arc suppression Lab notes & application notes Sustainability & components (how it works) The Arc Suppression Factor (ASF) Electronic Arc-Fault Suppression Arc-fault is one of the most common causes of commercial and residential fires, and is often a precursor to a short circuit, ground-fault, or (in worst circumstances) an arc-flash. The current means of guarding against arc-fault is an Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI). Our TRIPfault™ arc-fault suppressor concept products operate more than 1000X faster than any AFCI currently available, and turn potential arc-faults into the equivalent of a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.
