Knights and Dames of the Order As time passed the military aspects of the Order have been reduced to ceremonial in nature and emphasis has been placed upon the hospitaller functions. Distinguished men and women of all races and creeds are eligible for honor of investiture as Knights and Dames of the Order. The Order The Knights of Malta is a Hospitaller, Dynastic, Lay Order of Universal Brotherhood, and Knighthood. Relief of the Suffering of Humanity The Knights of Malta has a supreme purpose: the hospitallers assistance, asylum and charity, relief of the suffering of humanity and continuing the traditions which have stood for centuries: Sciences, Faith, Moral Justice, Social Order, exist full Diplomatic Relations. Since 1048 History dates back to 1048 and the time of the Crusades. A Juridical Person Regards the Sovereignty, the Order is a Juridical Person, subject to Inalienable and Inviolable International Rights Engaging in Legislation Administration Jurisprudence. Constituted Publicly The Order is organized in territories of the states, where It is constituted publicly in prior federal corporate consulates. This form merely facilitates doing business within those states and does not constitute a forfeiture of the Sovereignty of the Order. When Napoleon invaded Malta, the Knights of Malta split into two sections: The Sovereign Hospitallers Order of Saint John (Our Sovereign Order). The Military Order of the Vatican where the Pope declares Papal Sovereign Rule over Roman Catholics, ending with the Unification in 1870. The Vatican was established on February 11th, 1929. We ‘hold hands’ in respect worldwide mainly as two separate Orders Sovereign (Hospitallers) and Papal Sovereign (Military). Retaining our Sovereignty, Status, and Prerogatives On ‘two counts’ our Sovereign Order and the Petrucci Sovereign Dynasty Historical records show the Petrucci Dynasty joined ranks with Our Sovereign Order in the 17th Century. The Illustrious Grand Master also established the Dynastic Hereditary Hospitallers Priory of The Order. The third Petrucci who entered the Sovereign Order through Fra Alfranio. Later confirmed by Eugene Napoleon Vice-Roy of Italy, June 1, 1810 A.D. This followed the degree of Francis 1, King of Two Sicilies, June 5, 1825 A.D. Later on a Papal Bull of his Holiness Piso IX dated May 24th, 1862 A.D.was issued. Father Leo XIII, followed with three Papal Bull’s dating December 25th, 1879 A.D. and 1896 A.D. The Princely House of Petrucci di Siena is mentioned from then on with Fra Giovanni Baptista.
