Coudenhove-Kalergi was the first recipient of the Charlemagne Prize in 1950. The 1972–1973 academic year at the College of Europe was named in his honour. Coudenhove-Kalergi proposed Beethoven's " Ode to Joy" as the music for the European Anthem. He also proposed a Europe Day, a European postage stamp, [4] and many artifacts for the movement (e.g. badges and pennants). To my great surprise, Warburg spontaneously offered us 60,000 gold marks, to tide the movement over for its first three years …. When the publishing company ‘Independent News’ [Unabhängige Nachrichten] around 1990 published a summary of the book and contemplated printing it in it’s entirety, the government initiated a police search of the premises, and the only copy of Praktischer Idealismus was confiscated.

Inbreeding creates characteristic types - crossing creates original personalities. Precursor of the planetary people of the future is in modern Europe as the Russian Slavic-Tatar-Finnish mongrel; because he, of all European nations, the least breed has, he is the typical multi soul man with the wide, rich, all-encompassing soul. His strongest antipode is the insular Briton, highly bred Einseelenmensch whose strength lies in character, in the will, in the one-sided, typical. He owes modern Europe the most closed, perfect type: the gentleman. [23] Japanese: リヒャルト・ニコラウス・栄次郎・クーデンホーフ=カレルギー伯爵 ( Rihyaruto Nikorausu Eijirō Kūdenhōfu-Karerugī Hakushaku). Coudenhove-Kalergi spent his adolescence on Bohemian family estates in Ronsperg, known today as Poběžovice. His father personally taught his two sons Russian and Hungarian [ citation needed] and toughened them both physically and morally. He took them on long walks in all weather, made them sleep on straw mattresses and take cold showers, and taught them to shoot and fence so well that no one would ever dare challenge them. He also took them to Mass every Sunday. On every Good Friday, as the liturgy came to the exhortation "oremus et pro perfidis Judaeis" (" Let us also pray for the perfidious Jews"), the old count allegedly rose and walked out of the church in a protest against this supposed expression of antisemitism. [6]Wikipedia's article on Richard von Coudenhove-Kalergi lists Praktischer Idealismus (1925) among his Publications. This YouTube video claims to quote various writings of Richard Kalergi. It says that the following quote is from his book: Here the conformity between Lenin, the man from the lower country aristocracy, and Trotsky, the Jewish literate grows into a symbol: here the contrasts in character and spirit, from squire and literate, from country dwellers and the urbane, heathen and Christian people join into a creative synthesis of revolutionary aristocracy.
