HIS HONOR, THIS TIGHT KNIT COMMUNITY SAYS MANY PEOPLE KNEW DANIEL MAYFIELD. I SPOKE TO PEOPLE HERE TODAY WHO SAID THAT MAYFIELD ALWAYS BRIGHTENED DAY ON SOCIAL MEDIA THIS MORNING, READ A POST. THE FAMILY HAD AN OUTREACH ASKING IF A RIDERS WOULD BE INTERESTED IN THE FINAL RIDE FOR THIS YOUNG MAN. THE RIDERS COMING OUT FOR DANIEL MAYFIELD, THE SEVENTH GRADER FROM EL RENO WHO DIED FROM RSV. HIS FAMILY SAYS DIRT BIKING WAS HIS PASSION. SO RIDERS CAME OUT TO SUPPORT KIND OF WHAT WE DO SOME OF THE PEOPLE THERE KNEW MAYFIELD AND SAY HE TOUCHED THEIR LIFE SUMMER TWO AGO I WAS OUT DRIVING AROUND JUST THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOODS CAME ACROSS SOME KIDS OUTSIDE PLAYING THE STREET SHOES BASKETBALL STOPPED YOU KNOW TO PLAY WITH THEM. TURNED OUT IT WAS DANIEL AND HIS SISTERS. GEORGE SAYS THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME HE MET MAYFIELD. BUT HE INTERACTED WITH THEM MANY MORE TIMES AND SAID HIS PERSONALITY MADE HIM SMILE. YOU KNOW, YOU JUST THIS HE WAS LIKE ONE OF THOSE ONE OF THOSE, YOU KNOW, SHINING LIGHTS, YOU KNOW? I MEAN, HE JUST HE JUST HAD THAT GREAT PERSONALITY AND HE WAS ALWAYS HAPPY. CHASE BIRDMAN MAYFIELD THIS SUMMER. AND THEY BECAME FAST FRIENDS. HE WAS WRITING THIS LITTLE GROM AROUND. I WAS RIDING MY BIKE, AND HE JUST OFFERED TO GO FOR A RIDE, SEE IF I WANTED TO GO FOR A RIDE. Dirt bike riders and the community honored an El Reno middle schooler who died unexpectedly.El Reno middle schooler, Daniel Maifield, died unexpectedly this week from RSV. Because of his love for dirt bikes, his family invited riders from the community to come out and follow the funeral procession.The tight-knit community said many knew Maifield. Some of the people told KOCO 5 he always brightened their day."On social media this morning, read a post the family had an outreach asking if any riders would be interested in attending a ride for this young man," said Ken Rothrock, motorcyclist.The riders came out for Maifield, a 7th grader from El Reno, who died from RSV. His family said dirt biking was his passion, so riders came out to support him."It’s just kind of what we do," said Brandi Higgins, motorcyclist.Some of the riders knew him and said he touched their lives."A summer or two ago, I was out driving around, cruising the neighborhoods. Came across some kids outside playing in the street, shooting the basketball. Stopped to play with them, turned out it was Daniel and his sisters," said MPO Troy George, El Reno PoliceGeorge said that was the first time he met Maifield but he interacted with him many more times and said his personality made him smile."You know he was just one of those shining lights. He just had that great personality and he was always happy," George said.Chase Berg met Maifield this summer and they became fast friends."He was riding his little grom around and I was riding my bike and he just offered to go for a ride, see if I wanted to go for a ride and I said, heck yeah, we hopped on our bikes started going around. Friendship grew from there," Berg said.The procession followed Maifield and his bike to the cemetery and revved up their bikes in respect as the hearse took off.
